The Big 3-0

So it happened….yours truly (Ms. ThirtynWordy herself) turned 30. I awoke Saturday morning full of eagerness for the celebration that lay ahead that evening. As I made my way to the kitchen to make what would be the first of many caffeinated beverages that day (old habits die hard, what can I say?), I couldn’t help but smile. It was the last day of my 20’s and I was intent on making it a good one. Knowing in my heart I wasn’t exactly where I wanted to be at this point in my life, but also embracing the fact that there was an immense amount of gratitude to be felt.

I spent that night laughing and sipping wine with family and some of the dear people closest to my heart. Realizing that this was one of those golden moments: being surrounded by those who love and support you unconditionally as you all celebrate the beauty within the cycle that is life. It was a bittersweet goodbye to one decade, and a pleasant hello to another. Of course in that moment I missed my father immensely, yearning to hear his voice wishing me a happy birthday, telling me how proud he was of me, and missing the warmth of one of his endearing hugs. But his presence was in my heart, as always, fueling the fire that reminded me of the blessing in every day we are given.

As I sit here on my bed in this perfect little retreat of a room that I’ve created for myself, with only the sound of the rain against my window in the background, I crack open this pink leather bound journal that was gifted to me on that special day. Such a simple, yet thoughtful gift it was from my best friend. What is it about something new that holds so much promise? A new outfit…fantasizing about the many places it will be worn. A new friend…knowing there are so many memories to be made together. A new journal…all of those crisp clean pages yet to be filled. A new year…full of potential, with unique experiences to be had, new places to visit and things to learn.

I am beyond excited for the life that lies ahead of me. The possibilities are endless, and that is refreshing to my soul.

To those of you who have been following my blogging journey, I want to say how pleasant it has been to “meet” you, from all over the world. How much you, and this experience of sharing my writing as well as enjoying your talents, has impacted my life thus far. I’ve loved reading your input, as well as your kind, encouraging comments. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

“Oh life. Thank you for your beauty. Thank you for reminding me how lucky we are to be part of something so big.” – Tyler Knott Gregson
